National Research Institute provides 25% of product 48000000 market in 2011

Approximately 48 million as the iPad tablet PCs can be shipped next year, with massive 25% of the free operating system running Google's Android, according to analysis of Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute ( ITRI ).
Mr Stephen Su, General Manager ITRI Industrial Economics and Knowledge Centre(IEC) said that the proportion of tablets Android was likely to rise 23% from 2% in 2010 and to 48 million units shipped total tablet device is not more than tripled.
To the question whether such an increase would be the impact of reported teething reported problems with the new Android tablets – such as Toshiba Folio is taken from the shelves PC World in Britain – Mr Su said that “in the first stage of the product on the market, the obstacles seem to be underestimated by developers.”
“In the short term, it(problems) occur. But long term, I believe in these competing platforms such as Android.”

“Steve Jobs did not invent the needs that we all have,” he said. “He just needs is a better understanding of what consumers need and when they need it … we are trying to build long-term research centers.”

Mr. Su spoke to journalists from the press in the pre-show conference for technology at Computex 2011, which will be held in Taipei next year.

City Aquatic Transport (C.A.T) Public Transport System Helps You Avoid Traffic Jams 0

The main objective of City Aquatic Transport (C.A.T) is to help reducing urban city congestion. Waterways running through cities are usually passing by strategic public areas, with only little infrastructure needed, C.A.T system can fulfill its primary task. The system has been designed really simple to use. The users can pre-book or directly order a craft online using their personal account. Payment system options could be monthly payment or pay as you go, whichever is more convenient for users.

The craft has been designed from the inside out with personnel mobility in mind, some public transport key words sieved out of the research phase of the design process were flexibility, freedom and fun. The craft holds four people in a diamond formation in 360-degree rotating seats. In the center of the arrangement is a pull out table, which can be used for a number of functions. Once on board, the user has the choice to manually or auto-drive the electric vehicle. Auto drive presents the user with a chance to utilize the travel time to socialize, work, eat, rest etc. Manual drive provides the user with a pleasurable driving experience. The craft has other onboard amenities such as Wi-Fi and power sockets.

The system brings a new dimension for waterway transport, as well as minimizing congestion it opens doors for tourism and extends business opportunities. More and more businesses are operating from home, the C.A.T, in one scenario, could be used for business meetings amongst colleagues at a fraction of the cost of renting an office or meeting space in the city, plus they have the added bonus over a private space with an ever changing beautiful view. Tourists could use it to view the city, without being restricted buy times, stops, congestion and crowded interiors that other services suffer from. The scenarios are limitless, from having lunch with your friends to using it to commute into work each day, it’s a completely flexible transport system.

Solis Solar Powered Vehicle That Contributes Electricity To The City 0

The challenge of this project was to create a vehicle that we could park easily in a highly populated area. Solis is a solar powered commuter vehicle features semi-transparent solar panels on doors and roofing to generate electric power which is stored in the battery. Due to its compact size, 2 Solis can be parked in one regular parking space. This will solve the issue of limited parking space without the need to change the parking lot layout. It’s been designed with a retractable power cord where the driver can plug it into the parking meter to provide the city with electricity through its solar panels, thus paying for its parking space. If there’s not enough sunlight, the parking meter acts as a changing station in exchange for payment.

Solis design combines the freedom of motorcycle with the safety and comfort of a car, it offers new and better way of commuting and parking in highly populated areas. Solis utilizes the same wheelbase as a smart car but with a visually lower center of gravity. This way, both passengers are placed in the center of the car, protected by the wheels which will give great protection during a crash. We think this is an innovative vehicle design. Not only Solis is combustion free and takes less space, it is also stylish, eco friendly, and contributes to the city with electricity.

Nelja Analogical Watch Design by Löytö Esineiden 0

Löytö Esineiden has done it again. Nelja is a unique analog watch design where the face of the watch is divided into two halves. The watch works by utilizing the left side to indicate the hours while the right side to indicate the minutes without having to change the mechanical movement of a conventional analog watch. Each of these areas is marked with 12 points and its own hands as markers. Each hand still spins 360 degrees as usual.

Each of these hand markers is engraved with word to enable the color of those 12 points “fill” the empty areas. The outer hands of this watch are engraved with the word “MIN” while the inside hands are engraved with words “am” and “pm” to indicate the time of the day. It is indeed a very cool watch.

This free standing light was created for the exhibition of “The Fresh Light of Corian” during Milan design Week 2011. M o o d is a free standing lighting object made from translucent Corian. The objective of this project is to present Corian features such as translucency and malleability. This design wants to present the connection between innovate materials and technologies. The light bulb drawing is meant to create a link between the old and new light sources.

Futuristic Octuri Flying Yacht by Yelken Octuri 0

As the name suggests the flying yacht by designer Yelken Octuri is an innovative yacht that can fly. The yacht can transform hassle-free into a plane through 4 mobile masts, which lowers to become the wings. The sails pull in inward into every mast as the masts are brought down for plane mode. The yacht features two main decks, where the yacht’s lower deck boasts a main room, a restroom, a kitchen plus a storage room. In boat mode, the sails of the 4 masts offer the propulsion. Each mast can be oriented separately via a double-jack system, which assures optimal positioning despite the wind direction. The flying yacht has been designed especially for the princes namely Aziz, Dawood and Hashim, corporate administrators of Masqat Airways. Perhaps, the yacht offers an exceptional sailing alongside the Omani coastline in the plane version.

Living Roof : A Self-Sustaining Capsule For Urban Rooftop by NAU 0

Living Roof is a futuristic compact and self-sustaining capsule for urban rooftops. It’s been designed to cover essential elements such as a refuge to recover, plan excursions into the city, or just simply stare into the stars. The minimalist interior design allows its user to focus and concentrate along with the highly efficient enclosure provide the answer to one of the impossibility in modern lifestyle: the contemporary citizen seeks mobility but also wants to tread softly on the environment. “Living Roof” by NAU offers short-term housing unit which produces more energy than it consumes.

Living Roof is intended as an alternative to hotel rooms or temporary residence for multi-city travelers. Today’s traveler wants to experience urban lifestyle as the locals do. This project counters the trend of concentrating hotel guests in tourist ghettos by spreading individual suites throughout the city. Their location changes every 2 years to provide unexpected adventures for repeat visitors. Inside the suite, guest can find interactive guide which is completed with video preview and menu listing. This information can be transferred into a PDA or other gadgets. Checking in is a simple as inserting guest ID on an external terminal. A hatch slides open, stairway extends, and a pleasant voice welcomes guest inside.

Guests will first take note of the interior’s reduced palette, harmonious curves and panoramic wrap-around window bands. The real innovation however resides in the Living Roof’s accommodation of the occupant’s
functional needs. Rather than dispersing different activities — increasing the unit’s size and demands for heating and cooling — a rotating ring vertically combines sleep, lounge and work areas. Guests can choose to lie in bed while gazing through a skylight, watch a film while looking out across the skyline, or do a bit of work simply by rotating the ring to the desired module. Bathing and cooking functions are sequestered at one end, assuring a bit more privacy and a firm connection to the waste water filtration system. The feel is closer to a first class cabin than a hotel room, with flush-fit panels, built-in information systems and plenty of clever storage to stash belongings out of sight. A large information screen provides the latest dining tips or a wide screen cinematic entertainment experience. Comfortable upholstery softens the experience while the window bands provide views overlooking the city from all directions.

On the edge between hotel and residence, individuals booking a weekend getaway or frequent business travelers, will find the Living Roof an attractive option. Guests can sleep with a clean conscience; as you rest and recharge, so does the Living Roof. Even when visitors exit the unit, and set it in dormant mode, its photovoltaic array continues feeding electricity into the electrical grid or on board battery packs. Depending on guest use, over the year the suite can be a net electricity generator. This, along with a rainwater capture and gray water filtration system, make the Living Roof one of the world’s greenest structures.
